unior guard John Dawson, who helped Clovis High’s boys win the District 4-5A tournament championship and reach the Class 5A state semifinals, has been chosen to the 5A all-state first team by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association.
Teammate D.J. Blackmon was selected to the second team.
Dawson was one of four area boys to earn first-team all-state honors. The others werre Texico’s Miguel Reyna in Class 2A and Fort Sumner’s Kolter West and Skyler McMath in Class 1A.
Texico’s Sergio Posada in 2A, Fort Sumner’s Shilo Boyle in 1A and Clovis Christian’s Kevin Naceanceno in Class B were second-team choices in their respective classes. lease note, I didn't shoot Fort Sumner boys this season, so I don't have any photos of Fort Sumner's boys 1st-team selections Kolter West and Skylar McMath and 2nd-team member Shilo Boyle. Congrats to you all.

Clovis vs Goddard softball
8 photos
On paper, it appeared to be a relatively even match — two young softball teams both struggling under the .500 mark.
Turned out, it wasn’t. Clovis High couldn’t get runners in at key times and committed errors that proved costly, and Roswell Goddard cruised to an 11-3, 16-2 sweep on Monday at Lady Wildcat Field.

Clovis High’s girls didn’t expect a runaway against Hobbs like the one they had a week earlier.
They also didn’t expect to fall behind 10-0 at the outset.
No matter. The Lady Wildcats’ second unit came in, quickly turned the game around and Clovis pulled away in the second half for a 54-42 win in the District 4-5A tournament final Saturday night at Rock Staubus Gym.
